About the Role:Our client, Bath and Somerset Council, is seeking an experienced and dynamic IRO Team Manager to lead and manage the Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) service. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of children and young people by ensuring robust oversight of their care plans, safeguarding, and best interests.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide leadership and management to a team of Independent Reviewing Officers, ensuring the highest standards of practice.

  • Oversee statutory reviews for looked-after children, ensuring compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements.

  • Drive quality assurance within the service, identifying areas for improvement and implementing best practices.

  • Work collaboratively with social workers, senior managers, and partner agencies to ensure effective service delivery.

  • Support and challenge decision-making processes to safeguard children and promote positive outcomes.

  • Monitor performance and provide regular reports on service effectiveness and compliance.

  • Lead on audits, inspections, and quality assurance initiatives to maintain and improve service standards.

  • Provide expert advice on legislation, policies, and procedures related to children's services.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified social worker (Degree in Social Work or equivalent) with current Social Work England registration.

  • Significant experience in children's services, specifically in an IRO or management capacity.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills with a proven track record of service improvement.

  • In-depth knowledge of Children Act 1989, Care Planning Regulations, and other relevant legislation.

  • Experience in quality assurance, performance management, and safeguarding.

  • Ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders and work collaboratively.

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
