Job description

First Achieve's Engineering Division have an excellent opportunity for a Maintenance Electrician to join an established and growing company in the Edinburgh region. Our client is an international manufacturer, dedicated to aerospace industries world-wide .

What's on Offer:

  • Straight to permanent
  • £18.30/hr
  • 37hr/week
  • A rotating 3 shift pattern Monday to Friday

This role will report directly to the Maintenance Technician and you will be expected to work with minimal supervision, once you've been trained.

Rotating Pattern is Structured Accordingly:

Monday - Thursday:

  • Early Shift 6.00am to 2.00pm
  • Back Shift 2.00pm to 10.00pm
  • Night Shift 10:00pm to 6:00am

Friday:

  • Early Shift 6.00am to 12.20pm
  • Back Shift 12.20pm to 6.40pm
  • Night Shift 6:40pm to 1:00am

Duties will involve the following:

  • Carrying out repairs and preventative maintenance to a high level responding quickly and efficiently to plant breakdowns.
  • Assisting with the successful introduction of new/modified parts, equipment and tooling.
  • Performing risk assessments, re-assessments, statutory checks and weekly inspections.
  • Developing working processes as part of methodologically planned maintenance.
  • Ensure cost effective use of energy and general company facilities.
  • Ensure all department policies and procedures are maintained, communicated, understood and adhered to.
  • Maintenance and repair of all production plant equipment (Forging Presses, Machine Tools, Furnaces, etc.) and services on site including offices, kitchen and toilet facilities.
  • Electrical Installations/upgrades/remedials (lighting repairs etc.)
  • Emergency light testing/PAT testing/Thermal Imaging

Essential skills, experience and knowledge:

The successful candidate must:

  • Served a recognised apprenticeship and have obtained a qualification in an electrical discipline to a minimum of SVQ Level 3, HNC or equivalent.
  • A current electrical qualification in electrical installations, for example City and Guilds 2382 or BS7671 (18th Edition).
  • Be a timed served electrician.
  • Have a good understanding of Electrical drawings.
  • Have a good all-round knowledge of electrical maintenance.
  • Be able to work under pressure and being able to use your own initiative.
  • Be a good communicator with a helpful and flexible approach/ proactive in self-learning and development.
  • The ability to work as part of a team.
  • Be competent in the use of a computer.
  • Be able to work at heights, as well as in confined spaces.
  • Have prior industry experience in electrical maintenance covering medium voltage distribution systems, equipment breakdowns, trouble shooting, and working with inspection and maintenance programmes to meet statutory requirements is essential.
