Description
- Oversee and manage the procurement process, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors.
- Ensure the timely delivery of materials and resources in line with project schedules.
- Monitor market trends to identify potential new suppliers and products.
- Implement and maintain procurement strategies to optimise supply chain processes.
- Collaborate with internal teams to forecast supply and demand.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
- Manage and resolve any supply chain issues that arise.
- Reviewing purchase requirements to ensure that sufficient information is available to proceed and that the required delivery date is defined and agreed with the project.
- Liaising effectively with project/ops teams and fostering relationships internally and with suppliers and clients
- Routinely multitasking and tracking PO's and commodities across multiple projects, clients, work streams and stakeholders.
- Providing details of risk and suggest mitigations associated with schedule slippages.
- Providing accurate updates and reports to key internal stakeholders in support of Project plans and activities.
Profile
A successful Materials Buyer should have:
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Business, Economics, Logistics, or related field.
- Proven experience in a similar role within the Engineering, Manufacturing and Energy & Natural Resources sector.
- Strong negotiation skills and commercial awareness.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to make informed decisions.
- Proficiency in relevant software and technologies.
- Strong IT experience in MS packages and ERP/MRP systems
