Our client requires a dedicated person to join their small team and provide a bespoke package of care, support and education to 2 young adults. The youngsters are twins and you will be working in their family home to provide care and skills training and support to the twins who have autism. You will lead the care and educational support and have a small team of support assistants to lead and develop.

You should have experience working with autistic people. Applicants must possess excellent communication skills, remain calm under pressure and be enthusiastic about delivering a first class support and education service. An exciting training package will be provided.

 Essential for this job:

Valid full UK drivers licence and ability to drive

This position has a 'genuine occupational requirement' covered under the Sex Discrimination Act 1975 and therefore only applications from females are requested.

You will be required to: 

  • Be familiar with EHCPs and learning objectives
  • Be able to express good leadership and motivate a team of staff providing the face to face support to the twins on a daily basis
  • You will also be able to roll your sleeves up and role model by providing direct support on a regular basis
  • Motivate and progress the care and learning opportunities by using clear structures, interesting teaching, and learning activities under guidance from specialist teachers.
  • Follow positive behaviour plans to regulate and manage behaviours that might be described as challenging, trying at all times to understand what the twins might be trying to communicate through their behaviour.
  • To contribute to programmes of observation and assessment as planned by the teacher and other health and social care professionals with oversight
  • Develop and prepare resources and deliver care and learning
  • Champion the delivery of education and model effective teaching and learning strategies which motivate and engage positively in educational activities
  • Work collaboratively with parents and professional
  • To progress learning and life opportunities in a range of settings, including in the community
  • To understand and comply with the statutory guidance regarding safeguarding, manual handling, health and safety and GDPR, reporting any concerns immediately.
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties as requested, following the changing needs of the twins. 

You will be working within a passionate team committed to providing high-quality education and care and adapting provisions to meet the needs of the young adults.

 You must have: 

  • Patience, an ability to stay calm under pressure, a willingness to learn new skills and a commitment to building relationships.
  • Previous experience of working effectively with young adults with autism and commitment to them learning new skills and getting a good life that makes sense to them
  • Willingness to engage with an exciting training package, including intensive interaction, PECs, TEACCH and British Sign Language as well as understanding Positive Behaviour Support and how to manage, challenge and change.
  • Hold or work towards NVQ level 3 or more, as there is a real possibility of career progress within the company.
  • Experience in personal care
