Position Overview:
As a SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) in their learning and development. You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to create an inclusive and positive learning environment tailored to meet the individual needs of each student.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN, helping them to engage with the curriculum effectively.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and adapt learning materials as needed.
- Foster a supportive and nurturing environment that promotes students’ social, emotional, and academic development.
- Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to monitor student progress and contribute to assessments.
- Support students in developing independent learning skills and positive behavior.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with parents and caregivers regarding student progress and any concerns.
- Participate in training and professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge in special education.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs.
- A relevant qualification in education, childcare, or special education (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ, or equivalent).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A genuine passion for supporting the learning and development of children with SEN.
- A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to challenges.
