Audit and Accounts Manager

Day to Day of the Role:

  • Manage and develop a client portfolio, ensuring a good relationship, understanding their needs, and overseeing work-in-progress against budgets and fees.
  • Ensure assignments are complete before submission to Partners.
  • Plan assignments to meet budgets and communicate with the team.
  • Manage work allocation among team members.
  • Conduct regular reviews to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Interact with clients alongside the senior audit team, providing progress updates.
  • Complete and submit timesheets promptly.
  • Assist Partners with WIP analysis and apply up-to-date technical knowledge.
  • Report to Partners, delegate tasks, coach, and manage the team, including performance reviews.
  • Maintain regular client contact, providing ongoing updates.
  • Assist in quoting for new work, including identifying specifications and time costs.
  • Develop new systems and processes for efficient work throughput.
  • Liaise with clients on all aspects of audit/accounts/tax and be the main point of contact for queries.
  • Plan, supervise, and finalise jobs, identifying key issues.
  • Prepare and finalise statutory accounts.
  • Act as an ambassador for the firm, building contacts and developing new business opportunities.
  • Attend external and internal meetings, plan staffing requirements, and work as a team with other managers.
  • Coach and develop junior team members, providing constructive feedback.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proficient in IT including Excel, audit and accounts packages (CCH Accounts Production, CCH Audit Automation), Outlook, CCH Practice Management.
  • Committed to CPD in line with Institute.
  • Maintain high professional standards of conduct and practice.
  • Knowledgeable about the industry, markets, and core client base.
  • Aware of financial targets and assists senior management in achieving these.
  • Proven experience in Audit & Accounts within practice.
  • Qualified or part-qualified may be considered depending on experience.
  • A minimum of 6 years’ accountancy practice experience in Audit & Accounts.
