Premier Engineering is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading engineering company based in Beccles. This role involves leading the design and development of mechanical components and assemblies, working closely with engineering, production, and R&D teams to deliver high-quality products.

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
  • A degree or HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Strong 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar)
  • Extensive experience in mechanical design, ideally within manufacturing, special-purpose machinery, or automation
  • Knowledge of materials, fabrication, and precision machining processes
  • Understanding of DFM (Design for Manufacture) and DFA (Design for Assembly) principles
  • Experience producing detailed technical drawings, GD&T, and BOMs
  • Proven ability to lead projects and mentor junior engineers
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:
  • Leading the design and development of mechanical systems and components
  • Producing 3D models, 2D drawings, and technical documentation
