Our client is currently seeking a dedicated NRSWA Inspector to join their team on a contract basis. As an Engineer (NRSWA Inspector), you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and standards in street works and highway operations. This role involves a mix of office work and site inspections, providing a diverse and engaging work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and report on highway works by performing inspections under NRSWA, including the inspection of works, reinstatements, and ironwork
- Ensure all works promoters comply with signing, lighting, and guarding requirements as per Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual and the "Safety at Street Works and Road Works: a code of Practice"
- Check that works promoters adhere to the "Specification for the Reinstatement of Openings in Highways"
- Maintain detailed records of inspections to facilitate the recovery of relevant fees and charges, including NRSWA inspections, Section 74, Fixed Penalty Notices, and approvals for skips, scaffolding, and hoarding
- Conduct permit compliance checks
- Assist in the coordination of highway works, events, and temporary obstructions to ensure compliance with safety legislation
- Respond to enquiries and service requests promptly
- Support Co-ordination Officers and other staff to deliver an efficient service that meets performance targets
Job Requirements:
- Experience in street works inspections and NRSWA requirements
- Full NRSWA Supervisor accreditation
- A full and valid driving licence with the capability to drive a council vehicle, or a willingness to undertake and pass a council driving test
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high standards of work
- Excellent communication skills and ability to respond effectively to enquiries
- Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation meticulously
- Proficiency in inspecting and reporting on street works compliance
