We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Architectural Structural Engineer to lead an engineering team in delivering cutting-edge metalwork designs. Key Responsibilities:- Utilise finite element analysis (FEA) or other suitable techniques to design and analyse various metalwork connections, ensuring structural integrity and compliance with industry standards.
- Collaborate closely with draughtsmen, clients, architects, and other stakeholders to discuss design requirements, provide technical expertise, and address engineering challenges.
- Optimise metalwork designs to achieve maximum efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and aesthetic appeal while meeting project specifications and deadlines.
- Lead and mentor the engineering team, providing guidance, support, and technical expertise to foster professional growth and development.
- Develop innovative solutions and propose alternative design approaches to enhance functionality, durability, and visual impact.
- Participate actively in project meetings, providing engineering insights, identifying potential risks, and driving projects forward to successful completion.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in architectural engineering to inform design decisions and maintain a competitive edge.
- Collaborate with other departments, including production, sales, and project management, to ensure seamless coordination and integration of engineering requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
- Confidently engage with clients, offering professional opinions and, where necessary, respectfully challenging conclusions from an engineering perspective.
- Proven experience of at least 7 years in structural design and analysis within the architectural metalwork and construction industry in the UK.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
- Chartered status or working towards it is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in finite element analysis software and other relevant engineering tools.
- Strong understanding of structural engineering principles, regulations, and standards (e.g., Eurocodes, BS8579, BS6180).
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex engineering concepts and confidently interact with clients.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
