Berry Recruitment are seeking a Building Control Surveyor for our client based in the Shefford area.

Pay Rate: £42.50 per hour PAYE

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm (Hybrid)

Contract: Initially 3-months, potential extension to 12 months

Role Overview:

As a Building Control Surveyor, you will report to the Building Control Manager and oversee the implementation of Building Regulations and legislation, ensuring high standards of service delivery across the borough. You will manage projects from start to finish, including negotiating technical solutions and acting as an expert witness for enforcement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage statutory and non-statutory functions, including policy creation and processing building regulation applications.
  • Lead building control projects, offering technical solutions and project oversight.
  • Act as an expert witness for building regulation enforcement.
  • Commission specialists for complex structural and fire safety issues.
  • Support and mentor junior staff.

Requirements:

  • RICS or CABE membership.
  • Registered as a Building Control Inspector (Class 2 F or above).
  • Strong supervisory skills and experience in team development.
  • Excellent communication with customers and senior leadership.
