Dunbar Education Recruitment Agency is currently working with a dedicated SEN school in Bedford that is seeking a passionate and motivated 1:1 Support/Community Support Worker. This school takes a unique approach to education, teaching students by stage rather than age to address gaps in learning and development. With a focus on SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health), the school ensures each student receives personalised attention through dedicated key workers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching and Learning Support:

    • Implement effective teaching strategies to support the teacher and enhance pupil achievement.
    • Assist in planning and delivering differentiated learning activities, both inside and outside the classroom.
    • Help teach a broad, balanced curriculum that allows students to reach their full potential.
    • Facilitate inclusion by encouraging participation in learning, extracurricular activities, and community engagement.
    • Apply consistent behaviour management strategies in line with school policies.
    • Maintain a safe and stimulating learning environment, organising resources and space effectively.
    • Monitor, record, and report on pupil progress and attainment.
    • Plan and deliver keywork sessions tailored to the needs of students.
  • Supporting the Pupil:

    • Build positive relationships with pupils, fostering self-esteem, independence, and social inclusion.
    • Respond to behavioural incidents in accordance with the school's behaviour policy.
    • Assist with developing and delivering individual education, support, and care plans.
    • Provide targeted support for pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs, escalating concerns as needed.

Requirements:

  • Essential:
    • Experience in a school or educational setting.
    • Experience working with children or young people with special educational needs (SEN).
    • DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
    • Must have access to own car and hold a full driving licence.
  • Desirable:
    • Experience in planning and delivering learning activities.
