Bennett and Game are currently with a leading contractor who provides engineering services and process technologies to industries including water and wastewater, utilities, food and beverage, power, and industrial processes. The candidate will be based in the headquarters, featuring a fabrication workshop and engineering design office, is centrally located in Bedford, UK.

As the Project Engineer, your main purpose in the role with be to support the Senior Project Manager and project team in the successful execution of projects. You also need to be willing to stay away on site when required.

Key Responsibilities/Requirements

  • Oversee site survey investigations.
  • Coordinate, review, and distribute survey reports.
  • Perform material take-offs from fabrication drawings, site GA's, valve & instrument schedules, and standard specifications.
  • Manage procurement by obtaining a minimum of three quotations and issuing Purchase Orders to suppliers.
  • Attend HAZOP, ALM, HAZCON, HAZCOM meetings to assist the Project Manager.
  • Conduct site visits to assess project requirements.
  • Aid the Project Manager in site setup and enabling, including water and electric connections.

Assist in the preparation of H&S documentation, including but not limited to:

  • Risk Assessments/Method Statements
  • Construction Phase Plans
  • Traffic Management Plans
  • Site H&S files
  • Permits to Work
  • Compliance with HASWA and CDM regulations
  • Maintain and update all project records within the project files.
  • Monitor order statuses to ensure timely delivery of materials to support the production schedule, manufacturing lead times, and site activities. Conduct delivery checks on-site or in-office.
  • Assist with Non-Conformance Report (NCR) resolution and reporting.
  • Develop a detailed understanding of all standard products.
  • Support the Project Manager in creating Impact Plans.
  • Compile documentation for:
  • Inspection Test Plans
  • Materials in Contact proforma
  • Capitalisation Plan (in collaboration with the commissioning engineer)
  • Assist with the snagging process.
  • Support the commissioning engineer with commissioning plans and documentation.
  • Compile the H&S file upon project completion.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as required.

Qualifications & Experience Required

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a mechanical engineering/workshop environment.
  • Proficiency in interpreting fabrication drawings, site GA's, valve & instrument schedules, and standard specifications.
  • Strong negotiation skills and a strategic approach to managing national and local suppliers.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for working with team members, clients, and suppliers.
  • Ability to work independently, show initiative, and solve problems effectively.

Decision-Making Authority

  • Manages own time to achieve objectives outlined above.
  • Responsible for purchasing within agreed limits as directed by Project Managers and the Senior Management Team.
  • Undertake any tasks responsibly as instructed by or agreed upon with Directors.
