Are you looking for a new role or change in career and are interested in enabling the ongoing support of a lady based in Clophill?  Are you seeking a position where you can make a significant impact on the rehabilitation and quality of life to the client? Do you have a love of music, photography, or art?  

The client loves life, and enjoys interaction with others and getting out socially, but an accident resulting in a brain injury means that she needs some assistance with living independently. 

The ability to drive her manual vehicle is vital is essential (car driver), as is the personality and interpersonal skills to encourage independence, participation in rehabilitation, and to try new activities. 

Aside from aiding her social activities and rehabilitation, support is needed in her daily routines of meal preparation, shopping, cleaning, and aiding personal care. Every week she has photography and art classes and has a real love for music.  

She is not reliant on a wheelchair and is conversational but does need some assistance with mobility as she can be unsteady. She responds best to Carers who are assertive and kind, engaging as she can become bored if not interacted, and are out-going.  All her team love working with her, and comment on what good company she is, but also how on the ball and intelligent she is. 

The Role

She has a directly employed 1-2-1 established Care Team and we are seeking a Care Team Leader to manage the team, over-see her health and well-being in liaison with her Multi Disciplinary Team, ensuring that the Care Plan is adhered to, and that the quality of care and rehabilitation enables her to access all the interests and hobbies she enjoys whilst living safely independently. 

Candidates should have: 

  • Experience of working in social care as a Senior Support Worker or Team Leader, and within a family home would be an advantage.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with experience of writing/updating Care Plans.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and able to be a trusted point of contact for support workers, Case Manager, healthcare professionals and family members
  • Experience of undertaking supervisions and holding team meetings, identifying training and improvements needed to ensure that high quality of care is provided.
  • Over-seeing and managing medication.
  • Ensuring adherence of processes and procedures in line with care plans, risk assessments, and recommendations from the MDT.
  • Ability to work on their own initiative as this role provides 1-2-1 care as part of an established team. Interacting and engaging in some of her hobbies such as playing cards, board games, photography, art, and music.
  • Ability to undertake personal care if required
  • Motivation and engagement skills so that she is living as independently as possible in her own personal home and ensuring that she engages with her physiotherapy adopting humour, kindness, and assertiveness.
  • Creative thinking to identify new recreational and leisure interests, she is social, intelligent, and needs interaction to prevent boredom.
  • Confident and competent in organising trips out and about with a consideration for her needs.  She particularly enjoys shopping, visiting cafes, and going out for lunch.
  • Calm, consistent, and positive approach as she can suffer with frustration at times because of her restrictions and if not engaged boredom.

Successful applicants will be required to implement and enhance the rehabilitation programme which has been put in place by the team of therapists who already work with her and whilst experience of working with Clients with sustained brain injury would be helpful, full training will be given.  What is more important is your willingness to learn, and personality to engage with her and to manage the team.

It is an essential requirement of the role that candidates can offer the flexibility to accompany her on short breaks and holidays.  

Hours & Salary

We are looking for full time Care Team Leader to work some shifts hands-on with her and a portion dedicated to Team Leader duties, working 34 hours per week in total over 4 days on an annual salary of circa £30,000 per annum. 

Shift patterns are as follows:

  • Monday to Sunday:  07.30am – 14.30pm, 14.15pm – 21.45pm
  • Monday to Sunday: 21.30pm – 07.45am (Sleeping Night)

Rates of Pay

  • Monday to Friday: £16.00 per hour
  • Saturday & Sunday: £18.00 per hour
  • Sleeping Night:  National Minimum Wage
  • Team Leader duties: £21 per hour (x6 hours per week)
