Electrical Controls Engineer – Design, Automation & PLC Programming

Location: Bedfordshire
Salary: Up to £50,000, depending on experience
Tools: EPLAN / AutoCAD Electrical, PLC Programming

We’re looking for an Electrical Controls Engineer who can design, develop, and bring control systems to life—both on CAD and in code.

If you enjoy a role that blends hands-on electrical design with PLC programming, and you're excited by the idea of contributing to complex automated machinery, this is a great opportunity to join a supportive, forward-thinking engineering team.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Designing and developing electrical control systems for automated machinery

  • Writing, testing, and modifying PLC code (Siemens, Rockwell, or similar)

  • Producing detailed schematic drawings, bills of materials, and supporting documentation

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams across engineering, production, service, and sales

  • Supporting testing, commissioning, and product development activities

  • Ensuring compliance with relevant safety and electrical standards

What You Bring:
  • Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience

  • Strong understanding of industrial automation and control systems

  • Experience with EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical

  • Confident programming and fault-finding on PLCs

  • Good communication skills and a proactive, hands-on approach

Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of EN60204, EN13849, and EMC compliance

  • Familiarity with pneumatics and hydraulics

  • Experience working with bespoke machinery or in a manufacturing environment
