Position Overview:

Our client Excelsior Land Limited is a family run, growing company specializing in construction. They pride themselves on our commitment to excellence, innovation, and fostering a collaborative work environment. They specialise in low carbon, MMC residential schemes and every project they undertake focuses on reducing the environmental impact of the homes we build. As they continue to expand, they are seeking a dedicated Finance Manager to join their team who is either an ACCA or CIMA finalist.

As Finance Manager, your responsibilities will include overseeing end-to-end finance operations, financial planning and analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, looking to make improvements to procedures and controls, as well as ad-hoc projects and requests as and when they arise. The ideal candidate will have experience in cost accounting, CIS and understanding construction project accounting. This role will be varied and interesting and they are looking for someone to join their entrepreneurial team as they continue to grow. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with site and office team is essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Managing the purchase ledger process from transferring a Purchase Order to a bill, adding invoices onto the accounting software and then following the correct approval process for sign off by relevant teammember.
  2. Processing and setting up payments through NatWest Bankline
  3. Managing cashflow
  4. Maintaining general ledger and ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded.
  5. Monthly creation and processing of payroll, pension and CIS
  6. Monthly submission of VAT and any other HMRC/regulatory payments
  7. Management of Directors loans/ staff expenses
  8. Bank reconciliation
  9. Responsible for month end tasks
  10. Project Support: Collaborate with commercial team to provide financial insights and reports for ongoing projects
  11. Producing financial reports for senior management
  12. Monthly Management Accounting. To include preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports. Balance sheet reconciliation and creditor and debtors reports
  13. Liaising with external accountants /auditors, assisting in preparation for year end accounts
  14. Assist in the compilation of annual budgets for overheads and monitor the budget against actual for projects
  15. Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.


Qualifications/Experience:
  • ACCA, CIMA finalist.
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Proficient with Xero accounting software
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
