Job Description

Accountancy Recruit is partnering with an engineering business in the recruitment of a Finance Manager based in Cranfield, Beds. The purpose of this role is to manage the UK bookkeeping, month end close of accounts and year end prep. for presentation to group.

Responsibilities

  • Sole charge responsibility for the UK finance function; bookkeeping, payroll and month end close using Infor ERP system.
  • Management of the business bank account; liaising with the bank, bank reconciliations and cash flow management.
  • Processing expenses; administration of credit cards and booking transactions.
  • Maintenance of the sales ledger: raising invoices and sending out statements.
  • Preparing sales and order reports.
  • Credit control; chasing outstanding payments.
  • Maintenance of the purchase ledger: coding invoices and making payments to suppliers.
  • Dealing with supplier queries.
  • Preparing a monthly payroll and calculation of commissions.
  • Maintaining employee records – updating attendance / sickness record, administration of contract updates.
  • Pension administration.
  • Recording costs to calculate intercompany recharges.
  • Reconciliation of monthly duty deferment payments on imports.
  • Reconciliation of monthly import VAT statements.
  • Calculation of monthly VAT and bi-monthly submissions.
  • Preparation of month end accounts for submission to group; reconciliation of accounts, accruals and calculation of depreciation.
  • Year end: forecasting cash position for internal review / estimation of corporation tax payments.
  • Annual renewal of insurances and updating car insurance database.
  • Annual review of employee benefits contracts.
  • Assisting in annual budgeting process.
  • Year-end – preparing financial statements, corporation tax returns and submitting year end accounts / internal annual financial reports to trial balance for group: liaising with Auditors and dealing with queries.
  • Purchasing general office equipment, administration of mobile phone contracts, arrange building’s fire assessment, and assist in routine office maintenance as necessary.

Requirements & Skills

AAT or Qualified by Experience

Strong ERP, Excel / IT knowledge

Experience of import financial processes would be an advantage

Team orientated – collaborative approach

Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders

Remuneration

Salary - £40-50,000 pa

Hours: Flexi time – 37.5 hours per week. Bank hours for up to 5 extra days per year.

Holidays: 23 days plus bank holidays. Additional day per year; up to 5.

Pension: Salary sacrifice approx. 5% matched.

Hybrid: 3 days office; 2 days remote
