Operational Finance Director

The Accountancy and Finance Division at The ONE Group is currently recruiting for an Operational Finance Director on the behalf of a global leading manufacturing company in Bedfordshire. This innovative business is seeking a hands-on Finance Director, ideal for someone early in their FD career or an experienced Finance Controller ready to step up. Reporting to the CFO, the role involves overseeing key financial operations, with a focus on manufacturing, project accounting, and team collaboration.

As the Operational Finance Director, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Assist in preparing monthly management accounts, providing detailed analysis of project costs and margins.
  • Ensure internal controls and procedures are in place to maintain accurate cost and inventory data.
  • Support month-end reconciliations and general ledger entries.
  • Manage cash flow, including equipment financing and leases.
  • Handle P&L budgeting and forecasting.
  • Oversee cash management, rolling forecasts, and credit control.
  • Supervise tax filings such as quarterly VAT returns, US Sales Tax, and P11d preparation.
  • Manage corporate tax for both the UK and USA.
  • Oversee cost estimates, invoice preparation, and profitability analysis by customer.
  • Manage accounting for Fixed Assets and foreign currency transactions.
  • Review cost centres for profitability.
  • Oversee payroll preparation and submission for UK and US employees, including pensions.
  • Liaise with auditors and assist in the preparation of annual financial statements.
  • Manage relationships with the bank, Companies House, and company secretarial matters.
  • Oversee business services such as insurance, company cars, utilities, and property management.
  • Stay updated on R&D regulations and submissions.
  • Perform additional finance-related tasks as required.

As the Operations Finance Director, must be able to demonstrate the following requirements:

  • ACCA/CIMA qualified, 5+ years' post-qualification experience.
  • Manufacturing experience with product mix and costing knowledge.
  • Strong Excel and IT skills
  • Demonstrable line management experience.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, and proactive.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.
