Academics is partnering with two independent SEN/SEMH schools in Kempston. They are looking for a ASDAN Tutor to support students aged 11-18 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Speech, Communication and Language Needs (SCLN), and Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs). These schools specialize in designing and developing personalized learning pathways for SEND students, where traditional education methods have not been successful.
As a full-time ASDAN Tutor you will deliver tailored, on-site education and training to students in Kempston to enable them thrive using non-traditional learning environments. You will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing personalized lesson plans to meet the complex individual needs of students. The role requires a hands-on approach, supporting the social, emotional, and academic development of each learner.
Key Responsibilities of an ASDAN Tutor:
Plan and deliver engaging lessons based on the ASDAN curriculum, tailoring education to meet the individual needs of students with SEND.
Foster strong relationships with students, providing a supportive and safe learning environment.
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and other education professionals to ensure student progress.
Engage students in creative and meaningful ways to help them achieve their learning goals.
Collaborate with the wider school team to support the holistic development of students.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
Experience in lesson planning and delivering education to young learners.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Previous experience working with students with complex needs, such as SEMH and SCLN.
Experience with the ASDAN curriculum (preferred).
Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (essential for teacher applicants, desirable for tutor applicants).
QTS/QTLS (required for teacher applicants).
A patient, empathetic approach, with a genuine passion for working with children with SEN.
Additional Requirements:
Knowledge of the SEN Code of Practice and safeguarding policies.
Ability to work well within a team and communicate effectively.
A caring, flexible, and resilient attitude.
Ability to commute to Kempston and surrounding areas.
