Are you an experienced hospitality professional looking for an exciting leadership role?

Our client is seeking a hands-on General Manager to oversee the daily operations of running a busy, food-led Café Bistro in the heart of Great Denham Country Park, Bedford, ensuring exceptional service and quality in a cosy, welcoming atmosphere.

This café bistro is part of small chain of which the owners are deeply involved in the business, and specific operational and strategic guidelines will be in place for you to follow to ensure alignment with their vision in continue to grow their business.

Please note- our client has a restaurant licence and will be opening in the evenings on Friday and Saturday from March – October.

Are you the right person for the job?

  • Proven experience as a Café/Bistro Manager or in a similar role within the hospitality industry
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing small teams in a fast-paced, high-energy environment
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to build rapport with customers and maintain a loyal following
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks at once
  • Knowledge of food safety and health regulations, with a focus on maintaining a clean and safe environment
  • Financial acumen to manage costs and budgets effectively
  • A passion for food, hospitality, and creating a positive, dog-friendly space for all customers

What will your role look like?

  • Ability to work alongside an experienced Head Chef to support a small, dedicated team to ensure smooth operations every day. Lead by example and foster a positive, collaborative team culture which the owners lead by
  • Provide exceptional service and a welcoming atmosphere for all guests, ensuring the café remains a favourite destination for regulars and new customers alike
  • Oversee daily operations, including staff scheduling, inventory control, ordering supplies, and ensuring the café runs efficiently
  • Ensure the highest standards of food, drink, and cleanliness are maintained. Enforce health and safety standards and regulations at all times
  • Monitor budgets, manage costs, and drive profitability through which have been set by the owners and maximizing revenue opportunities
  • Work with the owners and the head chef to refresh and develop the menu, catering to customer preferences and seasonal trends
  • Oversee the smooth integration of our dog-friendly policy, ensuring pets and their owners enjoy a comfortable, clean, and safe environment
