Kitchen Assistant – Enhanced DBS Required
Location: Bedford
Hours: Monday - Friday, 10.30am to 2.30pm (20hrs a week)
Salary: £12 Per Hour, Paid Weekly
Job Type: Temp Ongoing, Placement until 17th Jan with Possibility of an Extension
Our client, an education provider in Bedford, is seeking a reliable and motivated Kitchen Assistant to become part of their small, friendly team on an ongoing temporary basis.
The role requires someone with previous kitchen experience, a positive attitude, and the ability to work efficiently in a busy environment.
A valid Enhanced DBS certificate is a must for this position.
Job Details:
- Assisting with basic food prep, cooking, and meal assembly.
- Ensuring that meals are served promptly and in a friendly, professional manner.
- Taking payments for meals, if required, and ensuring the accurate handling of cash or electronic payments.
- Keeping the kitchen and dining areas clean and tidy throughout the day, ensuring all surfaces and equipment meet food hygiene standards.
- Adhering to Health and Safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment for both staff and students.
- Set up and take down tables and chairs in the hall safely and efficiently.
Requirements:
- Experience working in a kitchen or café, with a solid understanding of food preparation, cooking, and basic kitchen operations. Previous experience within an educational setting is highly desirable.
- Current Enhanced DBS Certificate: this is a crucial requirement.
- A team player who works well within a small team and can contribute positively to the operation of the kitchen.
