Our client, an education provider in Bedford, is seeking a reliable and motivated Kitchen Assistant to become part of their small, friendly team on an ongoing temporary basis.

The role requires someone with previous kitchen experience, a positive attitude, and the ability to work efficiently in a busy environment.

A valid Enhanced DBS certificate is a must for this position.

Job Details:

  • Assisting with basic food prep, cooking, and meal assembly.
  • Ensuring that meals are served promptly and in a friendly, professional manner.
  • Taking payments for meals, if required, and ensuring the accurate handling of cash or electronic payments.
  • Keeping the kitchen and dining areas clean and tidy throughout the day, ensuring all surfaces and equipment meet food hygiene standards.
  • Adhering to Health and Safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment for both staff and students.
  • Set up and take down tables and chairs in the hall safely and efficiently.

Requirements:

  • Experience working in a kitchen or café, with a solid understanding of food preparation, cooking, and basic kitchen operations. Previous experience within an educational setting is highly desirable.
  • Current Enhanced DBS Certificate: this is a crucial requirement.
  • A team player who works well within a small team and can contribute positively to the operation of the kitchen.
