Our client is a large local government organisation and looking for an experienced Paralegal to join their commercial team. This is initially a 3 month contract which may be extended for the right candidate

You will

To assist in the provision to the Council, its members and others of a professional and comprehensive provision of legal service to the client department namely Childrenā€™s Services and any other department as required.

1. The post holder will, in consultation with the Team Leader (ACE Team), ensure effective liaison with other agencies, including, in particular, Health, Police, Probation, Courts and private practice solicitors with a view to securing cooperation in preparation of cases for Court.

2. Establishing and maintaining relationships with Childrenā€™s Services and responding to requests for legal advice and support from them in relation to Child Care law and practice.

3. To provide extensive case management assistance to the Solicitor dealing with the case to include ensuring compliance by the local authority with court directions within care proceedings and in any other court proceedings where the local authority is involved, including preparing draft case management orders and case summaries, seeking disclosure, collating and redacting documents for disclosure.

4. Providing assistance and support for solicitors in interviewing witnesses including taking statements in relation to proceedings in any Court, or other proceedings as requested, to include preparation of statements. 5. Providing legal support to Team Leader (ACE Team) and solicitors in the team in the delivery of high quality, timely and proactive advice to Client Departments, including:- (a) Drafting letters, submitting Court Applications and accompanying documentation. Attending Court to assist Counsel and take notes of evidence (If required).
