What would the Engine Test Engineer do?
- To deliver engineering objectives set by the Senior Engineer, Principal Engineer or Engineering Manager.
- Generate engine installation packs and schematics for accurate test bed setups.
- Identify engine/test delivery faults and collaborate with others to find effective solutions.
- Processing and validation of engine test data.
- Analysing engine data and understanding correct trends and causes for concern.
- Supporting colleagues as required to achieve wider goals.
- Track project efficiency and maintain project related invoicing.
- Devise and lead initiatives to reduce waste and optimise efficiency.
- Take active part in regular customer update meetings.
What skills and experience will the Engine Test Engineer need?
- Automotive/Mechanical Engineering HND, Degree OR relevant experience of testbed operation will be considered in place of qualifications.
- Experience in an automotive engineering discipline.
- Test bed experience in an automotive testing environment.
- Excellent understanding of gasoline and diesel engine mechanical fundamentals.
- Instrumentation experience (thermocouples, pressure transducers etc.).
- Able to create test automation procedures/schedules with a view to maximise automated running.
- Working closely with customer engineering teams to establish and carry out test programs.
- Experience of a wide variety of engine types would be advantageous (Petrol, Diesel, High Performance, Heavy Duty, Alternative Fuels).
