6 Week rotating Continental Shift Pattern (Shift Rota Provided on Request)

We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile Multi-Skilled Facilities Technician to join a leading manufacturing company based in Bedford. As a key member of the facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving infrastructure and equipment onsite to ensure smooth and efficient operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain all plant and service equipment in line with maintenance schedule.
  • Assist with repairs to sustain site services and maintain production.
  • Implement plant modifications to accommodate changes in processing procedures.
  • Operate and maintain the onsite water plant.
  • Undertake capital work to provide increased capacity, production of new products, and meet environmental requirements.
  • Perform electrical/mechanical breakdowns, new installations, and provide mechanical support.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance and manage scheduling.
  • Adhere to safe systems of working, ensuring compliance with company procedures.

Education:

Minimum BTEC Level 3 (or equivalent) qualification in Electrical Engineering.

Experience and Skills:

  • Proven experience in a similar role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical engineering skills, with a solid understanding of facilities equipment.
  • Experience in diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical faults, designing electrical layouts, and inspecting electrical systems, transformers, and circuit breakers.
  • Experience in the operation of de-ionized water plants.
  • Good time management and organisational skills, capable of managing work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented and able to perform well under pressure.

Communication Skills:

  • Oral: Effective communicator, able to liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, engineers, and colleagues.
  • Written: Ability to document processes/procedures to ensure information is retained and shared effectively.
