Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role involves the design and development of assembly fixtures, tools, and special purpose machinery, with a focus on automotive and general industry applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for 3D modelling, 2D detailing, creating BOMs, and contributing to process planning for automated systems. You will work closely with clients, sub-suppliers, and internal teams to ensure high-quality, efficient designs that meet client requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design of automotive and general industry assembly fixtures, tools, and end effectors.
  • Creation of special purpose assembly machines and applications.
  • Development of robot cell layouts.
  • 3D modelling and 2D detailing of manufacturing drawings.
  • Creation of Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Generation of process sequences and function plans for automated fixtures (advantageous).
  • Development of pneumatic schemes and associated BOMs (advantageous).

Role Involvement:

  • Act as the technical point of contact for clients and customers.
  • Conduct design presentations and participate in design review meetings.
  • Liaise with sub-suppliers, internal manufacturing, and assembly teams.
  • Provide design engineering and conceptual support for bid proposals.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in concepting and designing assembly fixtures and tools.
  • Experience in both automated and manually operated assembly fixtures (tools).
  • Familiarity with processes such as spot welding, MIG welding, bonding, and riveting.
