Job Advert - Senior Design Engineer
Based: Bedford (hybrid working available)

I am working closely with my Bedford-based client to find a Senior Design Engineer to join their in-house team.

You will be designing engine components, assemblies and packages to retrofit onto their fleet of engines in service.
In addition, you will provide technical support to the business in order to resolve customer issues and have input into ongoing and upcoming projects.

Joining initially as Senior Design Engineer, there is the opportunity to progress internally into the Chief Engineer position in the future.
Your key responsibilities will be:
* Develop design solutions from initial brief by creating layouts with verification by calculations including FEA techniques were appropriate.
* Production of manufacturing drawings, including assemblies and specifications of the final design.
* To control product realisation, including manufacturing aspects to achieve the most effective design.
* To control and define product build definition to ensure that the component database remains precise.
* To control engineering change and authorise concession of nonconforming product.
* To provide technical engineering support to other areas of the business.
* To manage in service product safety incidents including risk analysis and production of closing reports.
* To investigate in service product failures and production of failure reports.

Previous experience of reciprocating engine design would be ideal, but you will also be well suited if you have powertrain experience.
We can also consider someone from a rotating equipment background such as pumps, turbines, etc.

Previous experience of using AutoCAD Inventor design is desirable but not essential.
