Engine Test Technician - Exciting Opportunity in Automotive Testing

Are you an experienced technician with a passion for cutting-edge propulsion systems and automotive innovation? Join a global leader in the mobility and transport sector as a Propulsion Test Technician at their state-of-the-art Test Centre.

About the Role:

You'll play a key role in running advanced propulsion systems in a testbed environment. You'll work on a variety of prototypes, from fuel-efficient units to high-performance engines, supporting end-to-end customer test programs. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Setting up and configuring test cells, instrumentation, and automation systems.
  • Diagnosing and resolving mechanical and electrical faults.
  • Conducting servicing, hardware changes, and running test cycles.
  • Validating test data and contributing to quality control.

You'll collaborate closely with engineers and calibration teams, taking ownership of test cell operations and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

What You'll Need:

  • Qualifications: City & Guilds, Apprenticeship, ONC/HNC, or equivalent in Automotive Engineering.
  • Experience: Strong automotive background, ideally in test cell environments, with excellent understanding of engine fundamentals.
  • Skills: Teamwork, problem-solving, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.

Desirable Experience:

  • Gasoline and diesel testing in complex environments.
  • Familiarity with AVL, ETAS, or similar test bed equipment and software.
  • Knowledge of high-voltage automotive systems and lithium-ion batteries.
