re you looking for a rewarding long term temporary position as a Scanning Operator? Our client, a leading multinational corporation, is seeking talented individuals to join their team at the Medical Records Library located in Bedford Hospital.

Based at- Bedford Hospital- Medical Records Library, Britannia Road, Bedford, MK42 9DJ

Start date asap

Working hours- full time position 37.5 hours a week working 7am-3pm Monday to Friday with 30 minutes break each day. Discounted parking can be provided if you live over 5 miles from the hospital and 2 weeks full training will be provided

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Sensitivity and experience in handling Medical Records
  • Understanding of Case Note structure and current policies governing documentation filing within Patient Case Notes
  • IT literate with confidence in using Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Willingness to undergo training to operate high-resolution scanners and handheld scanners effectively
  • Excellent ability to understand and follow verbal and written directions

Please note, this is a fast-paced and target-driven role.

  • Prepare Event Notes with correct batch header sheets or "intelligent bar codes" according to scan and preparation guidelines.
  • Guillotine booklets and scan "long documents" as part of the preparation process.
  • Utilise on-screen stamps to identify poor-quality documents within the medical record during scanning.
  • Remove any "unscannable" items as per preparation guidelines.
  • Operate high-resolution scanner to meet quality assurance standards, ensuring all scanned images are of good quality.
  • Collect Event Notes from designated collection points, following an agreed schedule based on priority and scan receipt.
  • Check the quality of images as the medical record passes through the scanning device, making necessary amendments before release.
  • Regularly clean and maintain the scanning device, escalating any issues to the Team Leader promptly.
  • Complete Quality Assurance processes in accordance with established standards.
  • Report any issues with Event Notes preparation, scanning operations, or scanner functionality to the Team Leader for resolution.
  • Prioritise urgent requests and respond promptly, ensuring a smooth workflow.
  • Assist in answering general and face-to-face inquiries within the department.
  • Guide and support new staff, ensuring they are confident in carrying out their tasks.
  • Participate in mandatory training, including Xerox Business Ethics, Information Security, and NHS/Trust training to maintain service standards.
  • Provide cover for absent team members when required.
  • Undertake any other duties within the scope of the role.
