Job Advert - Project Manager
Based: Bedford (hybrid working available)
I am working exclusively with my Bedford-based client to find an experienced Project Manager to join their in-house team.
You will be leading a significant power generation project which is in its early phase. The company currently has 1 engine in operation on the Falkland Islands, and this project is to replace with new power plant using 2 engineers.
The 2 diesel engines have been purchased, and you will be managing another 20m spend on the rest of the equipment to convert it into a powerplant. This will include cooling, alternators, 11kv switchgear, motor controls, exhaust, caballing, etc. You will be responsible for the full life cycle of delivering this project through to successful installation and commissioning.
The current Project Manager will be reducing their hours to 2 days per week ahead of retiring later this year to facilitate a full and detailed handover.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Customer-facing as you will be dealing with different internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
* Developing solutions through engineering design and drawing phases
* Specifying equipment from suppliers
* Approving drawings
* Manufacturing and testing
* Shipping, installation and commissioning
It is anticipated that there are another 2 years of the project remaining, with the company actively pursuing other capital project opportunities. There may also be some involvement with legacy installations.
There will be occasional travel required to meet with suppliers and attend the site to meet with the local contractors and suppliers.
You will also be dealing with the main company of the overall project.
Initially 5 days per week in the Bedford office, there will be the option to work hybrid with up to 2 days per week from home.
For the right individual the company may be able to support staying locally initially and/or relocation.
We are looking for someone who is experienced in managing electro-mechanical capital equipment projects, with a successful track record of delivering on-time and within budget.
Previous experience of similar power generation projects would be ideal, but we can consider someone with a broader experience such as rotating equipment background such as pumps, turbines, etc.
They are able to offer an attractive salary and benefits package including:
* 11% employer pension contribution
* Early finish on Fridays
* Hybrid working available
