Location: Bedford

Salary: 45,000 - Depending on Experience

Proactive are currently in search of a Project Manager in Bedford to start work as soon as possible. This is an exciting opportunity working for a market leader in the design and manufacturing of industrial braking solutions.

As Project Manager you will be responsible for ensuring projects are running on track and smoothly, meeting customer requirements, staying within budget, and achieving completion by the project deadline.

Responsibilities of the position:

• Responsible for internal and customer project kick off meetings.
• Evaluate when projects are required to meet customer expectations, provide support the manufacturing process and meet target delivery deadlines.
• Creation of project plans using Microsoft Project to track and report sales order progress to customers and internal teams.
• Be the point of contact for customers to communicate project status.
• Organise and run project meetings for strategic customer orders for new and existing products that are processed through the company.
• Provide documented notes/actions from project meetings and distribute to the project team, following up to ensure they are completed.
• Set up measurement methods and forms of recording to monitor the performance of the manufacturing processes.
• Facilitate postmortem events for projects (sales orders) that do not run smoothly and close out corrective actions.
• Work closely with other departments to keep projects running smoothly, meeting requirements, in budget, and achieving completion within the project timeline.
• Communicate project needs and issues to management to keep on-track.
• Hold daily interdepartmental meetings to review the order log through the back-office process (special design visual board) and raise any issues off schedule.
• Tracking of Gross Margin performance of the orders and expenses of the project and manage project costs.
• Ensuring that customer requirements have been met including documentation before equipment is shipped.
• Identify and resolve any conflicts with customers departmental teams to ensure a satisfactory outcome.
• Travel as required.

Liaise with Import / Export clerk to ensure the following:

• Maintain up to date information on regulations and has registered to receive electronic updates from the ECO website. Contributes occasional pieces to the company-wide monthly communication meeting to raise general awareness.
• Classification of our products, using the support of the UK Government Control List Classification Advice Service via SPIRE to obtain a classification.
• Applying for Export Control Licences
• Drawing up of the local procedures for export control
• Record approval of the order and licence detail before an invoice can be generated.
• Filing granted and rejected licences with the corresponding commercial paperwork. to demonstrate licence acceptance as part of the export process.

Skills / Experience Requirements

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organisational skills
• Ability to identify and focus on the critical path
• Problem solving and corrective action execution experience
• Facilitation of a wide-range of structured, event-based activities, often from the Regal Business System (RBS) toolset
• High energy to lead through adversity and challenges, and win

Education Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with Engineering industry experience
• Prince 2 - desirable but not essential
• Excel, Word, Project, Power Point, Outlook proficiency is required
• Proven Project Management leadership is required
• Design and/or Technical Lead experience is preferred
