The Company:
We are delighted to be supporting our client, a leading civil engineering contractor with decades of experience in residential construction projects, as they seek to add an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to their growing commercial team and support established Senior and Managing Quantity Surveyors.
They have built a strong reputation as a civils and groundworks specialist within new build residential projects and pride themselves on maintaining exceptional standards across their work, leading to a strong order book of upcoming projects.

The Role:
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will work closely with our Senior QS and project teams to support the commercial management of a range of civils and groundworks projects. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a solid foundation in QS to develop further within a supportive and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and management of project budgets and forecasts
  • Measure and value work done on-site, ensuring accurate cost reporting
  • Support in the preparation of interim valuations and final accounts
  • Assist in procurement and management of subcontractors
  • Help identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities
  • Liaise with site managers, engineers, and external stakeholders to ensure cost control and timely delivery

Requirements:

  • Some previous experience within a QS role, ideally within civils or groundworks
  • Degree qualified or working towards a qualification in Quantity Surveying or related field
  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills
  • Familiar with NEC and/or JCT contracts
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and relevant QS software
