About Us: Dunbar Education Recruitment Agency is delighted to be working closely with a specialist SEN school dedicated to providing high-quality education and support for children with diverse special educational needs. We are currently seeking a committed and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team on a full-time basis.

Role Overview: This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HLTA to make a real difference in the lives of pupils with SEN needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the teaching and learning process, working both one-on-one and in small groups, to help pupils achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities.
  • Work with pupils on an individual or group basis to support their academic and personal development.
  • Assist in the planning, preparation, and delivery of differentiated lessons and resources.
  • Implement strategies to support pupils with SEN in managing their behaviour and emotions.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress, maintaining detailed records as required.
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for each pupil.
  • Supervise pupils during breaks, lunchtimes, and other school activities.

Essential Requirements:

  • Must hold a recognised HLTA qualification.
  • Proven experience working with children with SEN, particularly those with ASD, ADHD, and SEMH needs.
  • Must have access to your own vehicle, as the location is not easily accessible by public transport.
  • A valid DBS on the Update Service, or the willingness to obtain one.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
