Job Title: Senior Support WorkerLocation: Houghton Regis, BedfordshireSalary: £30,275 per annum (if qualified)

  • £44.56 per sleep-in carried out
  • £1,400 per annum attendance bonus (paid quarterly)

Full UK driving license is essential for this role.

Job Outline:

As a Senior Support Worker at our Children’s Home, you will play a pivotal role in supervising shifts and guiding Support Workers to deliver high-quality care, stability, and support to disadvantaged young people. You will provide advice, promote positive role modelling, and ensure the young people are treated equally while fostering their personal growth and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Support Workers during shifts, ensuring information is effectively communicated and cascaded in alignment with legislative, contractual, and inspection frameworks.
  • Act as a positive role model, demonstrating the value of education, care, and personal development to inspire improved behaviours among young people.
  • Establish clear structures and behavioural boundaries to support young people in understanding expectations.
  • Build trust and mutual respect with young people, promoting effective communication and appropriate responses to instructions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and house paperwork to ensure compliance and information availability.
  • Support and monitor young people's behaviour, implementing strategies to minimize incidents and encourage positive outcomes.
  • Develop and facilitate engaging activities that promote education, life skills, and personal development for the young people in your care.
  • Provide practical guidance to young people on essential life skills, such as managing finances and navigating everyday challenges.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop Support Workers to maximize their performance and potential, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

Essential:

  • A minimum of 12 months’ experience working in residential care (children’s sector preferred).
  • A QCF Level 3 qualification or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Strong understanding of service delivery monitoring and meeting short-term objectives.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team, promoting a collaborative environment.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good level of emotional resilience.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in monitoring and improving service delivery within a residential care setting.

Shift Pattern

  • Day shifts: 07:30-20:30.
  • Day/ Sleep shift: 07:30 - 11:00/ 07:30 the following morning.
  • Occasionally offer Early shifts 07:30 - 15:30 and Late shift 12:30 - 20:30
