Learning Support Assistant (SEN)
Location: Bedford
Position: Full-Time, Term-Time Only

The school provides specialised support for pupils with autism, profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), medical needs, and severe learning difficulties. All our pupils have Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). They are committed to creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment where every child can flourish, and we work closely as a team to ensure pupils receive the individualised support they need.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality support to pupils with special educational needs, helping them access the curriculum and engage in learning activities.
  • Work collaboratively with class teachers and other support staff to implement personalized learning plans tailored to each pupil's EHCP.
  • Assist with pupils' physical, medical, and emotional needs, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Support the development of essential life skills and independence in pupils, helping them to reach their personal goals.
  • Contribute to a positive, supportive classroom environment where pupils feel safe and encouraged to explore their potential.
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and discussions to share best practices and strategies for supporting pupils with complex needs.

Requirements:

  • A genuine passion for working with children with special educational needs, particularly those with autism, PMLD, and severe learning difficulties.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, sharing insights and strategies to support pupil progress.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, and families.
  • Flexibility and resilience to meet the diverse and sometimes challenging needs of pupils.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Desirable:
