As PMLD Learning Support Assistant:
- Provide personalized one-on-one and small group support for students with PMLD, encouraging their independence and development.
- Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that meet each student's unique needs.
- Assist with personal care needs such as feeding, mobility, and hygiene, ensuring students' dignity, comfort, and safety.
- Promote an inclusive and positive learning environment that boosts student engagement and progress.
- Work with the SEN team to monitor and track progress, adapting teaching strategies where necessary.
- Utilize specialized equipment to aid learning and ensure accessibility for all students.
- Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student care.
What We're Looking For:
- Proven experience working with students with PMLD in an educational setting.
- A caring, patient, and empathetic approach to working with young people with complex needs.
- Familiarity with communication methods such as Makaton, PECS, or similar (desirable).
- Knowledge of the SEN Code of Practice and safeguarding protocols.
- Relevant qualifications, such as Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning or an equivalent SEN-related diploma.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills, with a commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment.
