We are seeking a compassionate, experienced, and highly motivated SEMH learning Support Assistant to join a dedicated team in Houghton Regis. The successful candidate will provide essential support to students with Challenging behaviours and PMLD helping them achieve their full potential in a nurturing and inclusive environment through the Education and Training setting.

Day rate: £85 - £95

Responsibilities of a SEMH Learning Support Assistant:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD).
  • Assist in developing and implementing individual education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with teachers and other professionals.
  • Support students with physical needs, including personal care, mobility, and feeding, while ensuring their dignity and safety.
  • Foster a supportive and encouraging learning environment for all pupils.
  • As a SEMH Teaching Assistant you will work closely with the SEN team to monitor progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Use specialist equipment and resources to engage students in learning activities.
  • Collaborate with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student development.

Requirements SEMH Learning Support Assistant:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with PMLD in an educational setting.
  • A caring, patient, and empathetic approach to working with students with complex needs.
  • Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, or other communication methods is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of the SEN Code of Practice and safeguarding policies.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning, SEN diploma, or equivalent).
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Local Commute to Houghton Regis and the surrounding areas.
