We are looking for an experienced and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant with expertise in supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities to join our dedicated team in Kempston. In this rewarding role, you will provide tailored support to students, helping them unlock their potential within a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

SEN Teacher Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and group support for pupils with PMLD, enabling them to access the curriculum and engage in activities.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and support staff to implement individualized learning plans.
  • Assist with personal care and mobility support, following care plans and risk assessments.
  • Monitor and track student progress, reporting back to the teaching team regularly.
  • Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student independence.
  • Adapt resources and teaching methods to meet the varied needs of pupils.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a SEN Teaching Assistant, particularly supporting children with PMLD.
  • Knowledge of strategies for supporting pupils with complex learning needs, including physical disabilities and sensory impairments.
  • The ability to provide personal care with respect and sensitivity.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with staff, students, and families.
  • A caring, patient, and proactive attitude towards student support.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, SEN-specific qualifications) are desirable but not essential.
  • Must be located locally or able to commute to Kempston.
