Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive team in Bedfordshire. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to provide tailored support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), ensuring they have access to a nurturing and inclusive learning environment. This role is ideal for someone passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with diverse needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 or small group support to students with SEN, ensuring their individual learning and emotional needs are met.
Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and collaborate with teachers to adapt lessons and activities.
Support students with a range of needs, including Autism, ADHD, physical disabilities, and learning difficulties.
Promote positive behaviour management strategies in line with school policies.
Encourage social interaction and help develop students' communication and life skills.
Work closely with SENCOs, teachers, and external professionals to monitor progress and adjust support where necessary.
Assist with personal care where applicable, including toileting and mobility support.
Create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment.

Requirements:

Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN, either in a school or care setting.
Strong understanding of various SEN conditions and strategies for supporting children with these needs.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
A commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Desirable:

Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent).
Experience with communication systems such as Makaton or PECS.
Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and experience implementing them in a school setting.
