About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Interim Estates Surveyor to join a well-established local authority based in Bedford. This is a rewarding opportunity to work on diverse property management projects within the council's portfolio, playing a pivotal role in supporting community objectives and enhancing local services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Estates Management: Oversee the council's property portfolio, including asset management, lease renewals, rent reviews, acquisitions, and disposals.
  • Valuation and Appraisals: Conduct property valuations and market appraisals for various asset types within the portfolio.
  • Strategic Property Advice: Provide professional advice on property and estate matters, supporting the council's goals and budget requirements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including council teams, external agencies, and tenants to ensure alignment with council strategies.
  • Project Support: Assist in property projects that drive efficiencies, improve revenue generation, and support sustainable property management across the estate.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Chartered Status: MRICS or MCIOB essential.
  • Relevant Experience: Demonstrable experience in estates and property management within a public sector or local authority environment is highly desirable.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders and communicate technical details clearly.
