Key Responsibilities of a SEMH Tutor:

  • Deliver tailored tutoring in Functional Skills (Maths, English, ICT) and GCSE subjects, specifically for students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs.
  • Provide support to help students build their academic skills, confidence, and independence.
  • Adapt your teaching approach to suit individual student needs, ensuring inclusivity and engagement.
  • Monitor progress closely, set achievable targets, and offer constructive feedback to both students and their families.
  • Work collaboratively with parents, carers, and school staff to maintain a consistent approach to learning and wellbeing.

About You:

  • Previous experience in tutoring students with Special Educational Needs, particularly those with SEMH.
  • Familiarity with Functional Skills and the GCSE curriculum.
  • Understanding of learning difficulties (e.g., ADHD, autism, dyslexia) and how to effectively support these students.
  • Patient, empathetic, and proactive in your teaching approach.
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively with students and their families.
  • Based locally to Bedford with a reliable commute.
