My client is a leading supplier of engineering products, including software and hardware, and services used by engineering professionals worldwide to help them capture, analyse and present spatial information.

The Technical Sales Engineer Role

They are looking for experts in the use of Construction / Civil Site Surveying & Engineering Equipment interested in exploring exciting opportunities as Technical Support Engineers / Account Managers. Combining your knowledge and experiences to provide consultative advice and support on a range of software and hardware products, to contractors and engineers in the civil engineering, construction and consultancy sectors.

About the role

  • This exciting position would suit a recently qualified professional who has some work/direct experience of surveying applications and methods who is looking to transition into a commercial role with a hardware and software solutions provider.
  • The main objective of this role is to broaden the understanding, reach, engagement, development and ultimately the share of wallet from this strategically important group of customers. 
  • This will be achieved through analysis of existing customer data and from focused activity planning and engagement.  The latter includes prospecting; introductory and ongoing contact; marketing activity; lead management and opportunity generation and management.

Qualifications / Experience

  • Knowledge and experience of working with geospatial survey equipment is highly desirable
  • Track record of experience in a technical sales or business development role whilst not essential, would be an advantage
  • A rounded knowledge of the customer personas and applications in the geospatial survey segment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to communicate with a diverse client group, both on the telephone and face-to-face
  • Confident, self-driven and inquisitive individual with a clear focus on developing a pipeline of both prospects, customers and revenue
  • Self-motivated, task oriented and ability to work to achieve specific objectives, KPIs and targets
  • Excellent opportunity management skills including the ability to identify and manage significant opportunities with key customers
  • Strong sense of urgency, responsibility and accountability
