Ganymede Solutions are working with the largest UK Train Operating Company (currently posting revenues of over £8.9Billion the last seven years), who are seeking to recruit a Train Cleaner to join the SQR Heavy Cleans team based at Cauldwell Walk depot in Bedford. Ganymede Solutions are a stock market recognised recruitment agency, specialising in the transportation, infrastructure, construction and engineering sectors on both permanent and contract basis.

Our client covers the Southeast, Greater London & East Anglia areas – this includes Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Essex, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, London & Hertfordshire. As a result of this, they have a large fleet of trains – 516 to be precise, so it's safe to say you will be active & busy within your role!

Ganymede are looking to hire someone with a ‘go getter’ attitude who isn’t afraid to get stuck in and can lead a team by example.

 

The Role:

As a Train Cleaner in the SQR Heavy Cleans team, your duties will be interior cleaning focused, and you will carry out the following duties:

  • Hoovering/dusting
  • Mopping
  • Sanitizing and wiping touch points and tables
  • Changing bins and litter picking
  • Cleaning and restocking the onboard toilets
  • Buffering
  • CET tanking

You will be working on Thameslink fleet typically within a team of four at any one time. The depot is very large in presence, so a good fitness is required. A keen eye for detail is very important for this role, as heavy cleans involve cleaning everything inside and outside of the public eye.

 

The Hours:

Working hours from 22:00 – 05:00 Monday – Friday (subject to potential changes for train arrivals and timetables).

Overtime available at management discretion, however this will only be on Saturday and Sunday.

 

Remuneration & Benefits:

This rail company has on offer the following for contract staff:

  • Standard Hours (35 hours standard per week) - £13.15 p/h
  • Overtime & Rest Days - £19.58 p/h
  • Sunday Nights - £22.85 p/h
  • Weekly pay. Pay increase after 12 weeks as part of Agency Workers' Rights
  • Full PPE and comprehensive on-the-job training provided

 

Requirements:

  • Be able to pass a Drugs & Alcohol test
  • Provide your Right to Work documents before deployment
  • Happy to help mentality/attitude, someone who is proactive, can think for themselves
  • A decent fitness is needed as the site is very large and will involve a lot of walking, so please keep this in mind when applying
  • Be able to attend 1 day of training at Selhurst Depot (10th April)
