Job Title: Special Needs Learning Support Assistant – Daily Supply

About the Role:
GSL SEN Education are seeking passionate SEN Teaching Assistant who is wanting to gain experience working with SEN children. We are working with a range of primary schools around the Beeston area, who need staff on a weekly basiss to cover any sicknesses/absences that may occur. With winter approaching quickly, sickness calls are now becoming more common due to the cold/flu season. These calls can lead into reoccuring bookings should the schools feel like you are a right fit.
This role is on a day-to-day basis (Monday – Friday), due to the nature of the role you may receive a call on the day of work between 7am – 7:30am.
Key Responsibilities of a Special Needs Learning Support Assistant:
- Build trusting relationships with students using a restorative approach.
- Support students with complex mental health and emotional needs.
- Help demonstrate the value of education to students.
- Assist in creating a safe and nurturing learning environment.
- Work closely with teachers and other support staff to ensure each student receives the necessary care and guidance.
- Working 1:1 with students offering extra support
Key Requirements of a Special Needs Learning Support Assistant:
- Teaching Assistant Level 2 or equivalent (not essential)
- A sincere passion for working with children who have special educational needs.
- The ability to build strong, comfort-based relationships with students.
- A genuine interest in understanding the challenges faced by young people with mental health and trauma issues.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Resilience and adaptability to deal with a variety of emotional and behavioural challenges.
- Will have a Clear Enhanced DBS (Child Workforce/ Child and Adult Workforce) registered to the Update Service. – If you don’t already have a DBS, we can help you apply for one.
