Brook Street Recruitment is working with our Belfast city centre client to recruit a new full time and permanent Audit / Accounts Senior to join their team

You will be assisting the partners and/or managers providing client focused and commercially aware services in an efficient and professional manner. You will be involved in training and managing more junior members of staff to enable them to develop, progress and reach their potential.
Whilst this role is predominately audit work, there is an opportunity to carry out non-audit work, including statutory accounts preparation, tax compliance advice and other ad-hoc services

Key responsibilities

  • Involvement in planning, supervising and carrying out fullend to end Audit.
  • Responsibility for achieving agreed budgets and meeting deadlines.
  • Leading audits, including supervising and delegating work to trainees, along with assisting them with technical queries on site.
  • Delivery of complete Audit file for review.
  • Attendance at initial planning meetings and Audit close down meetings with the client.
  • Close liaison with clients, audit team and audit partner.
  • Delivery of work carried out under the primary accounting frameworks, mainly FRS102.
  • Preparation and review of annual statutory accounts and corporation tax services.
  • Motivation and encouragement of the team.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external standards, rules, and requirements.
  • Deal directly with clients in person and on the phone, constantly building strong relationships, to provide a personal, professional and efficient service to the firm's clients.
  • Identify and understand client's needs, including sometimes providing initial solutions to client challenges, then communicating these needs to the manager/partner.
  • Achieve annual chargeable hours targets.
  • Take responsibility for maintaining annual training requirements and be proactive in identifying your own training needs.


Skills & expertise

  • ACA or ACCA Qualified
  • At least 2 years of Auditing Experience, including experience leading audits
  • Competent technical knowledge of UK accounting (mainly FRS102) and auditing standards.
  • Strong IT skills, experience of using Audit and Accounts software, proficient in using Microsoft
  • Office 365
  • Excellent communication and inter personal skills to effectively deal with clients, partners and colleagues
  • Organisational skills including the ability to multi-task, prioritise work and time management
  • Demonstrates diligence and attention to detail
  • bility to work well as part of a team
