This role involves overseeing and managing highway schemes from the pre-construction phase through to project completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing projects to ensure coordination of multi-disciplinary inputs
- Managing resources effectively and efficiently to meet fluctuating workloads
- Working with clients, contractors, statutory bodies, and other stakeholders to ensure works are completed on time and within budget
- Leading the pre-construction process and coordinating project delivery teams
- Supporting less experienced colleagues through technical review, mentoring and advice
- Participating in tender bids and business development opportunities
- Developing relationships with other teams to utilise additional resources for multidisciplinary projects
- Agreeing fees and managing the commercial position on projects
- Managing specialist subconsultant inputs
Job Requirements:
- Experience in project management and supervision of medium to high complexity highway schemes
- Proven knowledge in the design, maintenance, and supervision of highways related projects, including new build, maintenance, and assessment of road infrastructure
- Proven working knowledge of NEC contracts; NEC Project Manager or Site Supervisor accreditation preferred
- Chartered Civil Engineer or an Incorporated Engineer with extensive post-professional qualification experience
- Knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCDHW)
- Understanding of the work of Statutory Undertakers and Street Works codes of practice
- Experience with Highway design packages such as MX/Civils3D and WinDes preferred, but not essential
- Excellent communication, client handling, and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in IT skills, including MS Project
