An excellent opportunity exists for a Construction Buyer to join a Tier One contractor in Belfast

Working within the Buying & Procurement department, projects undertaken will be within the building industry, and in particular large-scale project experience will be advantageous.

Responsibilities:

  • Procuring full range of building materials, prelim materials including order production
  • Supporting the estimating department with materials quotations and advising on potential value engineering / innovation during the tender process.
  • Processing material orders
  • Assisting the Project Commercial teams in preparing buying schedules
  • Developing relationships with key Suppliers & Subcontractors
  • Visiting suppliers / manufacturers works to develop product knowledge and relationships with key personnel
  • Liaising with suppliers and in house personnel to resolve accounts queries
  • Visiting construction sites on a regular basis to discuss and monitor the requirements
    of the project team
  • Oversee all material procurement matters
  • Monitor Suppliers performance through site feedback forms
  • Co-ordinate and administer regional yearly labour agency agreement
  • Attend national buyers meeting on quarterly basis
  • Monitor price movements and trends
  • To produce monthly reports on purchasing performance
  • Negotiating terms and conditions within agreed parameters

The ideal applicant will possess the following:

  • Demonstrable experience in the procurement of construction materials with a wide range of product range of product knowledge
  • Be a strong team player, integrate with Project teams and promote the buying function
  • Work, manage and fully understand the procurement process
  • Know how to build and develop relationships with suppliers
  • A high degree of energy and self-motivation with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent negotiating skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent IT skills with Microsoft Excel and Outlook
