Role Overview
The Customs Compliance & Technical Manager will be responsible for overseeing compliance of all import/export shipments and customs clearance facilities, playing a vital role in the continued success of our client's operations. You'll work directly with the management team and lead critical projects across customs, Brexit, and industry regulations, ensuring the business stays ahead of the curve.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure global and Brexit-related customs compliance across all shipments
  • Act as the primary technical knowledge source for customs, BIFA, IIFA, and insurance
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on government legislation and share updates with teams
  • Conduct audits of customs declarations, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Lead and support the AEO certification process and assist with ISO compliance reviews
  • Provide technical support and training on Brexit impacts and mitigation strategies
  • Review import/export processes, offering solutions for efficiencies and duty management
  • Act as a key point of contact for customs systems and internal software, supporting with documentation and shipment bookings

Who We Are Looking For
To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • 5+ years' experience in a Customs or Freight Forwarding environment
  • In-depth knowledge of customs regulations and processes, especially Brexit impacts
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and multiple operating systems
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects
  • A proactive, self-sufficient approach to sourcing the latest industry developments
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Desirable Skills:

  • Previous experience in the transport industry
  • Familiarity with Thyme IT or other customs systems
