About us:

Founded in 1913 in Glennon Brothers has been manufacturing high-quality timber products and is now the premier name in the Irish and UK timber processing industry. Through Glennon Brothers plants in Longford and Fermoy, and Windymains Timber and Troon in Scotland, we supply both the Irish and UK markets with products for the construction, pallet wood and fencing industries.

Over the past five years €70 million has been invested across the Group through capital investment projects. As the group prepares for continued growth and investment in the UK and Ireland, Glennon Brothers is now seeking to appoint a Plant Manager for the Balcas Sawmilling site in Enniskillen.

Balcas is one of the largest sawmilling sites in the UK and Ireland, employing over 200 staff directly within the sawmilling operations.

The Balcas site has a history of continuous investment with several significant projects currently underway to increase capacity and automation. It is an exciting time for a Plant Manager to join Balcas and lead the sawmilling business through this next stage of growth.

The Plant Manager Role:

Reporting directly to the Head of Operations, you will lead the Enniskillen Sawmilling operations. You will carry the full responsibility for all Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) on the Enniskillen sawmilling site.

You will be expected to contribute towards the achievement of the company’s strategic and operational targets and overall business aim, whilst ensuring reliability and consistency of operation through the development of people, plant and process.

As Plant Manager, you will be a champion for the site and ensure that the business is seen as a positive contributor to the local economy and community.

About you:

+ Minimum 5 years’ experience in leading Operations teams in a senior leadership role+ Proven track record in heavy industry operations and manufacturing+ Proven brand leader+ Manufacturing / Operations / Business degree or relevant equivalent qualification+ Lean qualification or knowledge gained through experience+ Strong personal credibility with the ability to build trusted relationships+ Able to lead and sponsor a lean / CI programme site wide+ Advanced interpersonal, negotiation, communication and influencing skills+ Exceptional judgement and demonstrated ability to make sound decisions+ Driven by results and understands how to prioritise time, resources and people+ Driven to exceed goals and push self and others towards high levels of performance+ Capacity to reduce complexity and increase efficiency in processes to maximise outcome/return+ Excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to make presentations and capable of persuading all levels of the business+ Proficient in IT, software packages and systems
