Your new role
In your new role as a Mechanical Engineer - 3D, will involve working within a team of Additive Manufacturing experts, reporting directly to the Engineering Director. You will be responsible for programming and preparing customer 3D models for printing, reviewing files for technical feasibility, and making recommendations to optimise parts for the 3D printing process. Your role will also include problem-solving unique engineering challenges, optimising manufacturing processes to reduce times and improve quality, and assisting with technical reviews of quotations. Adherence to quality systems such as IS9001/ISO13485/AS9100 will be crucial, as will your involvement in both internal and external R&D projects. Additionally, you will assist with testing requirements and carry out internal calibration, ensuring all equipment is maintained to the highest standards.


What you'll need to succeed
What you'll need to succeed is a BSc in Engineering (2:1 minimum) or an HND in Engineering with relevant experience. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, as is the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines. You should possess creative thinking and problem-solving skills, the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively, and a passion for tackling technical challenges. A strong understanding of plastic and metal material requirements, experience with 3D CAD or CNC CAM packages, and prior experience in reverse engineering and mechanical testing will be highly advantageous.
