Join a leading team within the Environment and Marine Sciences Division as a Scientific Officer. This role is crucial in advancing integrated research efforts with a focus on nutrient management within agricultural systems. If you are passionate about environmental research and proficient in GIS and geospatial analyses, this position offers a significant opportunity to address environmental challenges.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Produce sub-field scale hydrological runoff models using QGIS and ArcGIS.
  • Edit high-resolution LiDAR data and integrate diverse data sources (soils, land use, satellite imagery, water quality).
  • Manage geospatial data (quality control, organisation, archiving, processing, analysis).
  • Validate and test within river catchments in Northern Ireland using GPS or drones.
  • Handle administrative tasks (procurement, budget management, maintenance contracts).

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 A-levels or equivalent, including one in a science discipline (higher qualifications like a Bachelor’s degree are also considered).
  • At least 2 years’ experience in GIS and geospatial analyses using ArcPro and QGIS.
  • Strong coding skills in Python and R.
  • Excellent organisational and data management skills.
