Grant Verification Officer - Belfast

Temporary (3-6 months) | £15.91 an hour | Hybrid | Full-time |

My client is an established and highly reputable organisation in based in Belfast who are seeking an experienced Grant Verification Officer to work full-time on a temporary 3–6-month contract (with the opportunity for extension).

The successful Grant Verification Officer will be responsible for managing, planning and providing an independent audit service for the organisation. The post holder must ensure that there is a robust system of risk management, control and governance in place.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensure project expenditures are eligible, accurate, and within budget.
  • Complete and produce verification reports, highlighting non-compliance and irregularities.
  • Confirm projects comply with grant applications and contract conditions.
  • Tailor verification work to project size and nature, addressing irregularities.
  • Report non-compliance and financial irregularities, providing improvement recommendations.
  • Review and evaluate funding schemes, policies, and procedures.
  • Safely store financial records.
  • Facilitate internal and external audits.

Advice and Guidance:

  • Develop strong working relationships within the organisation.
  • Provide professional guidance and recommendations for verification functions.
  • Achieve departmental and business objectives.
  • Develop reporting procedures with external organizations.
  • Prepare reports, attend meetings, and represent the service in organizational activities.
  • Support plans and programs, demonstrating innovative problem-solving.
  • Contribute to policy development within the governance function.

What you’ll need to succeed!

  1. A minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent (Grade C or above), including Maths and English.
  2. A minimum of 2 years’ experience carrying out verification or audit of expenditure.

OR

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience working in financial accounting.

OR

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience conducting payroll processing.
  1. A minimum of 2 years’ experience reviewing financial processes and / or controls.
  2. Experience liaising with multiple stakeholders to achieve a positive outcome.
  3. Experience of working with MS Office packages, in particular MS Excel
